Solaris FAQ's

How do I know that my Solaris Folding Solar Array is working?
Check the charge indicator light or bar on the handheld electronics or accessory. For battery charging, the product can be tested with a volt meter.

Will this product drain my battery at night?
No. The Solaris Folding Solar Array has a built-in reversing diode and charge regulator that prevents the solar array from discharging your battery at night.

What happens if the solar power panel gets wet?
The Solaris Folding Solar Panel is made from water-resistant material. Wipe the product with a clean, dry cloth and allow the product to dry before folding for storage. DO NOT keep the product in or underwater.

Can I leave the solar power panel outside for continual use?
Yes. The Solaris Folding Solar Panels are designed for portable outdoor use. To prolong the life of the Solaris we recommend once your application is finished charging (see charge times from chart), wipe the product with a clean, dry cloth and allow the product to dry before folding for storage. The Solaris is NOT regulated. For extended charging use the SolarController™ to monitor charge level and prevent over charging.

Should the solar panel be disconnected from the car battery when starting the engine?
No, the solar power panel can remain connected and will not effect operation of the vehicle or any of the vehicle’s electronic components

Will the Solaris work with my Laptop?
The Solaris 26 and 52 produces sufficient output to charge most laptops.  The included 12 Volt Vehicle Output cable can be connected to your laptop's 12 Volt Vehicle Plugin cable.  The Plugin cable is specific to your laptop.  It must be obtained separately and is not available from Brunton or Moontrail.  Some owners of the Apple Powerbooks experience intermitant success.  Brunton has not been able to determine why some Powerbooks don't charge reliably. If you are not satisfied with the charging capabilities, if the Solaris is in New Condition you are welcome to return it to us within 30 days for a refund.  Please contact us for a Return Authorization Number if this is the case.
