The Fitzroy's unrivaled strength and stability are a result of a unique pole configuration and wind-spilling profile. On the inside, four Easton 7075 aluminum poles intersect seven times to create an ultra-stable superstructure, while maximizing headroom and usable floor space. On the outside, innovative three-point, self-equalizing guylines stabilize each side of the tent in high winds. Sometimes weeks can be spent waiting out a storm in the mountains-that's why the Fitzroy has been designed with comfortable living in mind. Both doors are equipped with pole-supported awnings and zippered vents for maximum air-circulation and ease of exit/entry. Weighing only six pounds, four ounces and setting up in mere minutes, the Fitzroy is both extremely light and easy to use for a shelter that offers this much protection and roominess.

Image at right shows the optional buckle vestibule (gray fabric) attached th the front of the Fitzroy. Vestibule weighs 1 lb 6 oz and includes an additional pole and adds 9 sq ft of vestibule coverage.

Bibler Fitzroy : three quarter view with 5'11

Three quarter view of the Bibler Fitzroy with the fabric and mesh panels of the front door zipped shut and a 5'11" model. The rear of the tent features a smaller door with a solid fabric panel and a detachable mesh panel. ToddTex fabric is utilized for the walls of the tent to create a breathable waterproof shelter, and a four pole interlocked frame ensures the structure's strength. Self adjusting guy line systems automatically equalize tension across the three anchor points on each side of the tent.

Photo at left shows the Bibler Fitzroy with the front door open and two standard size Therm-a-Rest sleeping pads inside. The Fitzroy has four mesh pockets located at the corners of the tent, and uses a twist lock system to secure the ToddTex fabric to the pole frame supports.

ToddTex
ToddTex is a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film, a thin film of stretched Teflon, laminated to a ripstop outer fabric and a fuzzy polyester inner fabric. Outer layer is a 30-denier high tenacity nylon ripstop woven in a symmetric 132 x 132 count pattern with UV resistant and DWR finish. Inner layer is a fuzzy Nexus lining that wicks water as fast as a paper towel. This action disperses moisture across the interior of the tent for rapid evaporation through the PTFE membrane.
