Be sure you have used pressured butane fuel (comes in a metal cylinder) and not the standard liquid naphtha lighter fluid.

Be sure to wait 5 minutes after adding fuel to the lighter before attempting to light it.

If you are at high altitude (above 5000 ft) use premium butane fuel (easiest to find in shops that sell pipe tobacco and expensive lighters).

Once you have it properly fueled up, the most common problem is having the fuel flow set to high.  Using the adjustment on the bottom of the lighter, try turning it down.  A good starting point for the fuel flow adjustment is about 1/4 turn in from full counterclockwise. Test at that low point.  If the flame is not steady and well defined, then increase 1/8 turn test again (moving the dial to the +).  Continue this process making a series of small increases in the fuel flow until a steady flame is achieved.

If the lighter glows red, but does not produce much heat or flame, rotate the fuel adjustment slightly counterclockwise to increase the fuel flow.

If the lighter works well at first, then sputters and goes out, the fuel mix might be too rich. In this case try rotating the fuel adjustment clockwise to reduce the fuel flow.

If none of the above result in a suitable flame, you may have a blocked fuel line. Our first suggestion is to release half of the fuel by using a ball point pen and pressing down on the fill valve located on the bottom of your lighter. Then check to see if the lighter works. If it still doesn't work, release a little more fuel. Try to light it again. If the lighter still does not work, remove all of the fuel, refill the lighter, wait 5 minutes and then repeat the process.

Sometimes increasing and decreasing the pressure will help to clear up the clogged fuel line. If the lighter still does not work, fill it approximately half way, and attempt to light it on the high, middle and low settings by rotating the flame setting. Try it a few times.
