Description
In laboratory tests meeting the latest standards, its comfort limit was -16°C. But we know, based on expedition feedback, that it's still comfortable in far more intense cold.” What makes it so effective? The ultra-high-quality goose down that fills the top section of the bag, plus the Downtek-treated duck down which fills the rest – bottom section, feet and head. Naturally, down stops insulating once it's wet, but Downtek technology works round the problem: the treated down has excellent hydrophobic properties, so it keeps all its thermal capacity.
Did you know?
There are three types of sleeping bag insulation: down, synthetic and composite (mixed). Down offers an unrivalled lightness-to-thermal efficiency ratio. Weight-for-weight, you get the greatest warmth. It's very compactable but the down fluffs back up again perfectly. Insulation is all about volume. “Its loft means plenty of air is trapped.” And that's great because, ultimately, it's the air that protects us from the cold!
