The
Kestrel Night Vision models offer the same features as the regular
kestrels but with an olive drab case with a visible red backlight
- which helps users to sustain natural night vision. The NV’s
red backlight preserves the natural night vision of users such as
military personnel and pilots. This unit’s red backlight is
also much dimmer than a standard backlight, making it more difficult
to detect with the naked eye in night operations. The Night Vision
model is only available for the 2500, 3500 & 4000.

and exposing it for the minimum time necessary to take a reading (less
than one minute). Kestrel4000: Operation
from -20oC to 60oC [-4oF to 140oF].
Below -20oC [-4oF], accurate readings may be taken
by keeping the unit warmer than -20oC [-4oF] and
exposing it for
the minimum time necessary to take a reading (less than one minute).
