ceramic element,
B. ceramic gauge, C. scrub pad and D. the
cleanside cover. When output of filter becomes slowed, scrub pad can be
used to abrade ceramic element to unclog dirtied element. When ceramic
gauge fits around element, the element should be replaced. The ceramic
gauge stores on the Clean-Side Cover as in the photo at right.
In the image above, the green arrow points
to the output nipple of the filter where an output hose can be attached
(output hose is not provided). The blue arrow shows the threads where
an MSR dromedary bag or a Nalgene brand water bottle can be attached for
direct filtering. Also pictured is the Clean-Side Cover which screws onto
bottom of filter to keep outlet contaminant-free.
