Upgrade to Voyageur: the Hiker accepts the replacement
cartridge for the Voyageur. Essentially, the Hiker can be upgraded
to the Voyager by using the Voyageur's replacement cartridge.
Likewise, the Hiker PRO replacement cartridge can be used in the Hiker. The Hiker PRO's cartridge has a removable filter protector with a cleanable screen to extend the life of the cartridge.

The diagram at left shows the The Removable Filter Protector that is standard with the Hiker PRO. The Filter Protector is a cleanable screen that covers the cartridge. The Hiker and Hiker PRO do not require frequent cleaning, but the Filter Protector will extend the life of your cartridge.
The Hiker PRO filter cartridge can be used as a replacement cartridge for both the Hiker and the Hiker PRO
Both the Hiker and Hiker PRO include 1 white connector that allows the output hose to attach to the quick connect fitting built-in to many hydration bladders. The Hiker PRO also includes 2 blue Quick Connect fittings which allow more variation. See the Figures below for more detail on the Hiker PRO's Quick Connect fittings..
Figure 1-1 illustrates the use of the Quick Connect fittings available in the Hiker PRO model. The output hose can be cut at a desired length and then reconnected with the Quick Connect fittings. This configuration is ideal for easy removal and storage of output hose to avoid cross-contamination.
Figure 2-2 illustrates the use of the Quick Connect fittings available in the Hiker PRO model. (A) attaches directly to the hose connected to the hydration bladder, (B) attaches to a short section of hose with the bite valve & (C) is the white connector attached to the end of the water filter output hose. This configuration is ideal for pumping filtered water directly into hydration packs; allowing quick filling without removing pack or bladder.
