the packsack to the mat
New Features added in 2006
Valve:
Both valves are at an angle at the top of the pad Color: Logo has changed and is gray now
The laminated polyester fabric surfaces are textured to reduce slippage.
The fabric is airtight. High frequency welded seams are actually
stronger than the fabric itself. Downmat 9, 2006 is pictured above.

View above shows the four Exped down
air mattresses with a milkjug filled up to 2" with water which
weighs the same as the Downmat 9. The letters in the photo correspond
to the following:
A. Downmat 9 Deluxe, B. Downmat 9 C.
milkjug with 2" of water, D. Downmat 7, E. Downmat
7 short
A combination pump and stuff sack is included with all four
mattresses and all work in the same manner described in these photos.
Mattress is equipped with two locking valves, but only one is needed for
inflation. Two are provided for fast deflation. Mattress valve is mated
to bottom of stuff sack for inflation.
Stuff sack is opened, to allow air to enter
sack, then rolled up and/or pushed from the top, to force air into the mattress.
Foam has been added to the pump sack to assist the inflation process.
The padded pump sack can be used as a pillow if stuffed with clothing.
Individual comfort will vary, but about 10 pumps fills the
mat. Pumping air, rather than blowing it, prevents humidity from reaching
the down. If the bag is blown up by mouth, the moisture of your
breath could cause the down to dampen and clump or freeze. The red arrow
shows the second valve which is closed when pumping up opposite valve.
Blue arrows show two top loops that can be used with a cord to attach
the sack to the top of the mat for use as a pillow.
